The Peanuts character, Linus, made an astute point when he said, “I love mankind (Aquarian). It's people (Leo) I can't stand!” Yep, we get to deal with each other, and society, while striving to be our best selves. This full moon (Thursday, August 18 at 2:26 a.m. PDT) blends Leo's drive for Divine Illumination with the Aquarian vision of a Utopian Society. Taking on either of these tasks lifts us from an ego -bound drudgery to a great adventure – even if we fall short!

Full moons shed light on issues, sometimes personal, sometimes societal, and give us a chance to work things out. It would be lovely to think society's flaws are different than individual faults. But, society's issues are grass-root affairs. Once we get ourselves together (which none of us does alone) the job is to offer our gifts to the community, and pay it back.

Sitting with questions that arise in the light of a full moon, we are rewarded with self-knowledge and self-empowerment and move from pity parties to compassion. We discover our common human dilemma - every single person works hard at being alive no matter his circumstances! This moon comes equipped with extra zest for 'we, the people' to join hearts with minds, both within and between ourselves, and get real about tending to society's most meaningful values. Who knows? By the light of this moon, we may awaken to find ourselves marching in a multitude headed in a direction that empowers wholeness at all levels for all people.

A Complex Lesson

A cosmic lesson plan launched with an eclipse last September as the school year started. The optimistic and complicated plan grappled with healing unconscious patterns (Pisces) while untangling beliefs painful to ourselves and others (Sagittarius). Often as many as six of the ten planets were in action and we were like mice running routine patterns in a maze that no longer had cheese.

Much sorting, filing and mis-steps ensued throughout the foggy winter until a conglomeration of earth sign planets conspired at the Taurus new moon, May 6, to reveal the results of our work – or lack thereof. A full moon in Gemini/Sagittarius followed by the Gemini new moon on June 4, helped us 'see' what old perceptions had shifted and what updated dreams we dared to entertain. Little by little, we dismantled stagnate mind sets and dead-end beliefs, and broke out of our mouse maze.

To underscore the year's lesson, here comes ANOTHER full moon in Gemini/ Sagittarius (June 20, 4:02 am PDT) which echoes a double set of full moons in June, 1997. If you're old enough, this signals a second chance at a road not taken or abandoned, or a review of outdated beliefs set in motion then.

If you learned this year's lesson, it's a major accomplishment - like receiving a Master's degree in Life. If you didn't, you'll encounter diminishing returns. Old patterns won't work. Suddenly, you're bumping into walls where there were none and there's no cheese in sight.

The cosmos constantly conspires to move us towards an evolutionary path of growth. The stellar command wants us to take a step forward in faith and trust. This was a complex lesson but we can still make the shift if we open up to one expanded thought and see how we grow and are rewarded, both personally and collectively.

If you've been shopping lately, you know it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. But before we share the season of 'Peace on Earth', Libra sponsors a season where we can put our relationship with ourselves in order so we can dance a merry-dance on down the road.

Mercury finished his retrograde whirl returning with fresh insights on how we dance the dance of love. Dancing often takes place in a room with a mirror. Use the mirror and notice you both. Do you like what you see reflected there? Or are you disappointed that they see you 'this' way? Or that you see them 'that' way? The mirror reveals partners but, beware, there's tricky footwork here, and you can only manage your own feet.

The new moon (Monday, October 12, 5:05 PM) in Libra, the relationship expert, is a private affair. So take a deep breathe, and tell the truth. Do you love yourself? Really, truly, deeply? Can you bring compassion to those tender spots you work so hard to hide? You know the ones of hurt or shame we hope someone, someday will come along and love enough so those pains no longer hurt. Recently a friend told a story on herself. “I love people so much it hurts, but I don't love me.” Her illusion of a fairytale about her endlessly giving heart popped in her moment of truth and put her feet on a new path, one where she can take steps to love herself - so she can love others. When we learn love's true lesson, we give love without thinking, and receive it, too. When relationships flow, we move together, being the love we are, receiving the love we want. Dancing becomes a love-fest, and we have a shot at 'Peace on Earth.'

Sonny and Cher said it all in “The beat goes one.” It's the eternal dance between men and women. Active and receptive. Outer and inner. Aries and Libra.

Any ballerina will tell you the work that goes into achieving the moment of balance on a toe shoe. She makes it look easy, but for all the focus, the balance point lasts a mere moment, as she passes through it, and begins her fall to earth. If you've managed any balance in any area of your life, you know the blood, sweat and tears required!

Aries' and Libras' Equinoxes begin with on perfectly balanced point. Monthly full moons bring another balance between the male sun, and the feminine moon.
